Has James Franco started a trend? More than 15 years after leaving soaps behind, Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning for a guest spot on All My Children.
Before Gellar, 34, was stabbing blood-suckers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she was known to soap opera fans as Kendall Hart from All My Children. Kendall was introduced in 1993 as the long-lost daughter of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci). A funeral-crashing, stepfather-seducing, wedding-sabotaging nightmare, Kendall was extremely popular with audiences -- even scoring Gellar a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1994, and a win in 1995. Gellar left the show in 1995, debuted as Buffy in 1997... and the rest is history! Now that the long-running series is in its final year, Gellar tells Entertainment Weekly that she's returning to All My Children to say a fond farewell. But she won't appear as Kendall -- seeing as the character has been played by Alicia Minshew since being re-introduced (in a less villainous incarnation) in 2002. The details of Gellar's episode have not yet been announced.Meanwhile, All My Children and Buffy fans alike can look forward to Ringer, starring Gellar as a woman who poses as her dead twin sister after witnessing a murder. The twisty, exciting-looking trailer premiered at Comic-Con -- watch below! The show debuts on The CW on September 13.
